Spectacular andAmazing Tattoo Artwor.
I went to a convention a few weeks ago with my friend and her husband who are tattooers and I was present for the "Best Back" portion of the best tattoo contests. There was some amazing work on display, huge gorgeous intricate back pieces done by some incredible artists...but the prize went to a little 20-something blonde girl in leather pants and a halter who had black wings on her back. They were pretty, and so was she, but honestly that concept is a little done to death and they were nowhere near as good as many of the other pieces in the running. (I got to look at them close up when she came over to us after.) She sashayed across the stage, however, and perched right on the judges table in a lap dancy sort of way and then flirted outrageously with them. Afterwards, she gushed to me that it's "All about the sex appeal." Funny, I thought it was about the quality of the work.
And no, lest it come across as sour grapes, I was not in the contest. My backpiece was done by a friend of mine in his basement when that girl was a stain in her mommy's drawers, and it's pretty bad, but he's dead now and I wouldn't change it for anything..
